If you get a chance to see them in Europe this November and December, I would highly recommend them. Their music is a mix of both heavy metal and symphonic metal and utilizes the best of both styles. I have seen them multiple times and they are just getting better. Personally, I love Delain and their music. It was a fabulous way to end a terrific show and the audience was extremely happy and cheered and wanted more. A large number of fans were singing along with Charlotte and it was awesome. They ended the show with “We Are the Others”. They only started playing this song on this North American tour. They started the show with a new song, “Burning Bridges” that has not been released on an album yet. They have just released an EPS mix, Hunter’s Moon that consists of 4 new songs and live versions of a lot of hits from prior albums. The show was a mix from all of their albums.

Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije, Charlotte Wessels and Timo Somers of Delain at The Marquee Theatre, Tempe, Arizona Overall it was a great mix of melody and driving sound with stellar singing. Joey on the drums provided the driving and pounding beat and Martijn pulled it all together with his malonic keyboard playing. Otto laid down a strong bassline with Timo providing the power riffs that drove the music. Charlotte is still the exceptional front person and with the other members of the band they are a strong member of the metal community. This is a sign of a fantastic front person and what really makes a band shine. She captivated the audience and had us always wanting more. I was thunderstruck by Charlotte’s voice and her marvelous stage presence. I first saw Delain when they toured with Nightwish a number of years ago. If you want to get more information about Delain or see upcoming concerts, please check out their website. They will be starting their European tour in November. By the time you read this review, it looks like Delain has completed their North American tour. Guitarist Merel Bechtold has left the group (June 2019) to pursue other ventures. The current line-up for the band is lead singer Charlotte Wessels, drummer Joey Marin de Boer, Martijn Westerholt on keyboards, bass player Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije and guitarist Timo Somers. The headliner of tonight’s concert, Delain was a Dutch symphonic metal band from Zwolle, Netherlands. Delain Delain at The Marquee Theatre, Tempe, Arizona
